Kris Johnson is the head of the Learning & Research Services Department and the Montana State University Library in Bozeman where she she works to help the LRS student employees, classified staff, and faculty librarians learn, grow, and work together as a team so they can provide top-notch services to the library's constituents. Leading this team allows Kris to stretch her management and leadership muscles, focusing on individual growth, team-building, collaboration, and innovation. An experienced academic librarian by trade (information literacy, instruction, and reference), in 2006 she transitioned into consultation and project management at the Colorado State Library, Colorado Department of Education. In late 2014 she moved back to higher education in an administrative and managerial role at the Montana State University Library. Her interests lie in the intersection of service design and management and she's published and presented on using Design Thinking as a management technique and to help build better services.
