Department Head, Learning & Research Services Montana State University Library
Large post-it notes (or whiteboards, etc.) are used by libraries of all types as fun, quick ways to gather user comments and feedback about our library spaces and services. But should that information be used to inform decision-making for our spaces and services? This poster will detail a Tier 2 user assessment project that builds on casual user feedback in order to gain better insights for decision-making. Attendees of this poster session will learn how gathering casual user comments is valuable but has limitations for decision-making purposes. Attendees will learn about a follow-up, Tier 2, assessment tool that can be used in combination with large post-it feedback to help better understand users and that can often be used to make decisions. Attendees will learn the resources and steps needed to implement the Tier 2 Large post-it assessment methodology. The assessment is actually very easy to implement and fun for users to participate in, especially if you offer donuts as an incentive!
