Discuss the historical education of black librarians including informal institutes, the fall of Clark Atlanta Library School, and Hampton University, and the consequences of the continued lack of black diversity in the field. We would discuss what these schools brought to the field, and what was lost when they closed. The poster would question if the number of black librarianship dropped in relation to losing 1 of 2 library schools in historically black colleges and universities at a time when diversity should have been taking off. We will also address how we can continue to promote black librarianship and aim to focus on where we can market the profession and engage black people in this type of scholarship. The poster will have facts on the topic and forms of data visualization. It has always been a struggle to include African Americans in the profession and we aim to look back and see what steps were taken that were beneficial, and what steps were detrimental.
