Assistant Professor & Liaison Librarian University of Illinois Chicago
This poster is the description of a small project that engaged my health science library user community. Because of an office move, I ended up in a workspace that had poor lighting and my plants could not stay. I chose to move them to our public work tables.
This poster will describe the steps taken to name all the plants, which include soliciting names, creating a survey for voting, and disseminating results through plant info cards.
The point of this poster is to remind us that not everything needs to be strategic and "productive." This poster is statement that we can and should follow our small interests to create projects that, for no other reseason, make our space brighter. This project had no new costs, no targeted demographic, no data was collected from the participants, and took little time. Despite that, the plant naming project made the library space a little better for everyone in it.
My goal is for this poster to be a small place of respite and a reminder that we can find ways to personally bring joy to our jobs in simple ways.
