International Outreach Librarian California State University Fullerton
This poster will showcase an exciting project the past academic year (9 months--Sep 2022 through May 2023): visiting 80 libraries across 20 different countries, from Asia to Europe to the U.S., comparing Best Practices. This project was a research grant funded by California State University to investigate what innovative and creative things libraries are doing--across different cultures--that can serve as inspirations for other libraries. The poster will feature amazing examples: from mobile library apps in Taiwan that enable users to page their own books, to holiday-themed library "baking workshops" in Thailand that bring standing-room-only crowds to the library, to "Therapy Dog Days" in California and Michigan academic libraries which help soothe stressed-out students during exam times. Links on the poster will be available for photos and videos of the featured libraries, as well as many more of the 80 libraries. The presenter of this poster actually visited all 80+ libraries, in a non-stop travel itinerary, personally photo-documenting the fantastic assortment of innovative practices. This poster will appeal to librarians of all types of libraries--academic, public, school, government--as all of these types were visited and documented.
