Shannon Crawford Barniskis is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Science at the University of Kentucky. She is interested in how public libraries impact the communities and people they serve. Her research interests include public library art and other non-book-centered programs, makerspaces, leadership, policy, children and teens, power and ethics, social trust, access, and intellectual freedom. She worked in public libraries for 19 years, and has been a consultant for 15 years, especially for small and rural libraries. She is now honored to teach and learn with the next generation of librarians.
