Migdalia Jimenez is a librarian, and is the manager of the Learning & Economic Advancement Unit in the Adult Services Department at the Chicago Public Library.
She was named Reviewer of the Year by Library Journal in 2022 and serves on the LibraryReads Board. She was featured on WBEZ Curious City podcast “A peek behind the librarian desk” and was the recipient of the REFORMA Scholarship in 2006.
Her reviews and columns have been published in the Library Journal, the Chicago Public Library’s Staff Picks website, and the LibraryReads newsletter.
She also regularly moderates author panels with publishers in conjunction with Library Journal.
Her favorite genres to read are: romance, science fiction, fantasy, true crime, literary fiction, relationship fiction, and non-fiction especially popular science and essay collections. She’s also a fan of re-tellings and books featuring diversity of all kinds.
As a member of the Latinx Services Committee at CPL, she also keeps up on titles featuring immigrant/Latinx Diaspora experiences.
She loves traveling, cooking, riding her bike, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and playing with her 4 cats.
