Deputy Chief Executive
Archives and Libraries Group, National Library Board of Singapore
Catherine is the Deputy Chief Executive of the Archives and Library Group of NLB (National Library Board) and has been with NLB since 2015. She oversees the development, operations, programming of the National Library, National Archives, and a network of 27 public libraries.
Prior to NLB, Catherine was Director of Strategic Planning Division at the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI). While at MCI, Catherine worked closely with NLB to develop the Library of the Future Master Plan. She moved to NLB in 2015 to lead the implementation of the Master Plan and has overseen 7 libraries being revamped. Her current focus is to lead service transformation under the Libraries and Archives Blueprint 2025 to support lifelong learning. Moreover, she is driving content integration and sharing among the three institutions under NLB, ie. public libraries, national library, and the national archives, to bring out Singapore content and experiences across all the NLB’s platforms.
Catherine believes that libraries and archives must continue to evolve to keep up with the fast changes in the information landscape. Despite the prevalence of free information on the internet, libraries and archives can continue to be endearing institutions, piquing curiosity to learn and access knowledge.
