Jennie Garner (she/her/hers)

2023 Board President
Association for Rural & Small Libraries

Jennie Garner is the 2023 President of the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) and works as library director at the North Liberty Library (IA).Jennie is a member of SRRT and PLA as well as a new member of the PLA Public Libraries Advisory Committee. A longtime Iowa Library Association (ILA) member, she is currently serving her second term on the ILA executive board. She has been involved in and chaired multiple ILA subdivisions and committees including Intellectual Freedom, Library Leadership and Management Association, Public Library Forum, Leadership Committee, Iowa Small Library Association, and conference pllanning. Jennie serves locally on the board for Inside Out ReEntry Community, an organization working with returning citizens as they transition from incarceration. She formerly served seven years on the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature board, including two years as president. Jennie's professional interests include leadership; policy; and justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access, topics which she's presented on both locally and nationally.
