Cataloger and Metadata Specialist Anythink Library
One in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women (.5%) are color blind; 350 million in the world and 13 million in the US alone. People with normal color vision see more than one million hues and colors, but the red-green color blind only see an estimated 2-10% of colors. Enchroma glasses provide a broader spectrum of color vision for many of these people. By providing Enchroma glasses for color blind customers to check-out, an estimated 17,845 men and 1093 women in Adams County Colorado were given the opportunity to see many colors for the first time.
The poster will include images showing before and after experiences of using Enchroma glasses for a color blind person. In addition, images from the launch event detailing the experience of customers interacting with the exhibit within the library space.
It will also describe Anythink Library’s addition of the Enchroma glasses to the circulating collection, partnership with Enchroma, glasses selection, and the process of making them available to customers including cataloging, processing, and advertising.
