Acquisitions & Collection Development Librarian Mississippi State University
Evaluating any collection can present challenges, but the evaluation process is vital to ensure academic library users and the campus community has access to the best resources available within the constraints of the library's budget. This poster session will present the process implemented at Mississippi State University Libraries for evaluating electronic resource subscriptions. Quantitative data gathered from usage statistics and quantitative data gathered from faculty helped to inform data-driven decisions regarding subscription renewals. Information regarding the evaluation process and its outcomes will be presented in graphs, charts, and text, as well as sample materials such as forms sent to faculty requesting their feedback on renewals of e-resources. The poster will provide an overview of the process from beginning to end, to provide other librarians managing e-resources with a guide for gathering data to inform decisions on subscription renewals, especially in regards to maintaining the resources their faculty and students need for teaching and research.
