Dinovember is an annual celebration of dinosaurs, inspired by the blog/books by Refe and Susan Tuma. Dinosaur storytimes and puppet shows are presented. A photo contest invites patrons to submit photos of their toy dinos getting into mischief. A pass to the local natural history museum and basket of dinosaur-themed goodies are awarded. Patrons are invited to dig for a dinosaur ‘fossil’, which is made using air dry clay and sand forms. Patrons of all ages are drawn to the library’s vast collection of books and magazines featuring dinosaurs. Programs are held during November offer crafts based on dinos. A stuffed dinosaur is hidden inside the library every day. The child who finds the dino earns a small prize, with all names going into a raffle for a grand prize at the end of the month. The first Saturday of the month, a dino double-feature is presented. The third Saturday of the month is a dinosaur party, in which patrons can play games, dance to dinosaur songs, make art and view fossils using the library’s microscopes. This program appeals to dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages.
