After reading an article about "Productivity Cafés" in Japan our outreach group was inspired to adapt this idea for our undergraduate academic library. Our outreach group is a cluster of librarians and staff who work together to reach out to patrons. We started with a plan of providing a designated “café” study space within the libraries during finals week. This included hot beverages, the promotion oof productivity goals and providing information about available library resources. We will show how we make information literacy instruction more accessible by setting up a drop-in librarian station. We will outline how we conceptualized the three levels of intervention, and why we think having the levels is important. We will share the changes that we'd like to make for future Productivity Cafés and the lessons we've learned. We will share resources that we found, adapted, or created that helped us with our event. We will demonstrate how we see this type of event being adapted for other libraries with different patron populations. Finally, we aim to inspire other libraries to try adapting this idea to their own patron populations.
