Medical students exhibit some of the highest rates of mental health distress on college and university campuses today. As a result, the Access Services Librarian at Yale University’s Cushing/Whitney Medical Library has been working to collaborate with departments both within and outside of the library to help support our patron’s evolving needs. Over the past year, the library has worked to host multiple events to help our students prioritize practicing mindfulness, healthy balance, creating, and connecting. The response has been overwhelmingly positive from students, faculty, and staff while simultaneously helping to facilitate community within the library team.
This poster will use patron and collaborator feedback, usage statistics and data, pictures, and examples of outreach offerings held over the past year to help illustrate impact and reach. This session will also identify challenges, opportunities, and trends including navigating budgetary restrictions, creating hybrid offerings for remote and on campus students, popular events, and positive impacts on library staff.
