A Barrier You Weren't Expecting: Guiding Faculty Through the Library Resources Available for an International, Inter-Institution Entrepreneurship Course (Poster 2)
Business & Entrepreneurship Librarian Pennsylvania State University Libraries
There are probably few things more eye-opening for undergraduate entrepreneurship students than the chance to collaborate on a new venture—hypothetical or actual—with students from beyond the walls of their institution. When those collaborations cross borders, students have the opportunity to expand their perspective further by learning from their international peers, exploring new markets, and experiencing diverse information environments. In spring 2022, I had the opportunity to work with faculty and students engaged in a “virtual study abroad” course that asked American and Croatian students to investigate the market for new ventures in various industries in Croatia. Along the way, I worked with faculty to understand the limits of how my institution’s licensed resources could be used and shared; to communicate with students about the information environments they were encountering; and to identify open resources that could be accessed and used by students at both institutions. In this poster, I will discuss lessons learned through this experience and how I intend to build on it in the future.
