Adult Literacy Program Specialist Nashville Public Library
This poster will highlight a few examples of top programming and suggested collection materials for all Libraries. It will also serve as a "one-stop shop" for anyone that needs a quick toolkit for promoting diversity in their library by providing tips for programming, collection development, and forging community partnerships to provide better services or resources to your patrons. This would also be a visual presentation on how to utilize Census data, patron surveys, and other collection development/programming skills to help provide better programming and collections for school, academic, and public libraries that are more diverse and inclusive. Diversity and Inclusion should not just encompass the demographics living in your area, but inform all patrons about the diverse world we live in. My hope is that this poster will also help raise more awareness about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in libraries. As for foraging new partnerships, will provide regional and national partners, as well as highlight some key tools for Reader's Advisory and Collection Development (such as Collection HQ) that can help underfunded public libraries ensure their offerings are in line with the current ALA standards on service, diversity, and inclusion.
