Looking for ways to jumpstart your library career? Learn new skills through committee work, reviewing, community engagement, and other special projects to boost both your confidence and your resume! Presenters Krok and Stevens have combined experiences with multiple committees within YALSA/ALA/Statewide, writing and contributing to professional books, presenting at various conferences, community engagement via advisory boards/special projects, blogging , and reviewing across multiple platforms and professional journals. Attendees will be provided with multiple creative entry points based upon interests, needs, and demographics serviced. Whether school, public, or other type of library, a plethora of ideas will be provided to get you charged up and ready to get started!
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to discuss possible community partners for engagement, special projects, and/or grants for their libraries in breakout groups.
Upon completion, participant will be able to infer the benefits community engagement/projects/grants, committee work, and/or reviewing may have for their library career and describe ideas in breakout groups.
Upon completion, participant will be able to assess career jumpstarters and choose what they might pursue to boost confidence and their resumes.
