Director of Operations and Innovation Carroll County Public Library
Collaborative learning spaces and maker spaces are growing within libraries. From an arts & crafts space, sensory learning space to high end technology experiences, these spaces fill a unique need in each community. Learn about the community impact of Exploration Commons, a unique, collaborative learning space which operates a technology makerspace and commercial teaching kitchen in a public library model.
Panelist will share lessons learned, discoveries and impact of the space on individuals and the community at large, and what steps any library can take to uncover the needs in their community for workforce and economic development experiences, how to recruit partners for their space, and what measurements can be used to prove success. Learn about the community impact of this space on individual lives as well as the creative ecosystem within Maryland, what discoveries were made in the first year of operations, and steps a library can take to help ensure success for their own collaborative learning space.
