My name is Johnny Parker II and I'm a comic creator, teacher, and podcaster from Detroit, Mi. Over the past 10 years, I've self-published my own comics and have traveled around the country selling my books at SDCC, Emerald City Comic Con, Rose City Comic-Con, WonderCon, and many others. Many of the comics I write are inspired by the need I see for representation: Black Fist & Brown Hand is a Black and Brown exploitation comedy that mocks stereotypes; Die Cute is a romantic comedy that takes place in a graveyard and tells the story of African American music junky that falls in love with a Transgender Latinx ghost for the 1950s named Maria; and The Black Man's Guide to Getting Pulled Over, is a story that satirically explores systemic racism and police harassment, in an effort to find a solution to the problem. My work has recently caught the eye of a few publishers, and The Black Man’s Guide was recently released through Microcosm Publishing, which was recently nominated for Best One-Shot by Broken Frontier. I’m currently working on some projects for other publishers. Ultimately, I like to tell stories that are different from the norm and feature unique characters.
